Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat does Citation Linker do?Citation Linker is a tool to help you quickly find full-text articles when you already know the citation of an article. Note: If you are looking for information on a specific topic, using a database will help you locate articles on that subject. |
How does it work?
Enter the information you know about the citation into the Citation Linker web form and it will search for the article in the Hanford Technical Library's subscription content. It is not necessary to have a complete citation. |
| Example - You have the following citation and you need the article: |
| Dauble DD, Moursund RA, Bleich MD (2006) Swimming behaviour of juvenile Pacific lamprey, Lampetra tridentata, Environmental Biology of Fishes 75 (2): 167-171. |
Citation Linker will work best if you give it the following information:
| Citation Linker won't always be able to discover online content automatically. For those times, you should explore other options on the SFX menu such as searching the Hanford Technical Library's catalog, Leona. If the Hanford Technical Library does not subscribe to the journal you need, you can always request the item via ILL/Document Delivery. You may also perform a Google Scholar search to see if a copy of the article has been posted online. Both of these options can be initiated from the SFX menu. |
| The menu can vary, but it will look similar to the following: |
Why is the full text not always available?
Full-text articles are available only when the Library subscribes to that journal in its electronic format for that year of publication. The Library does not subscribe to all titles, and not all titles are available online. Check the Hanford Technical Library's catalog, Leona for journals available in print or on microfilm. |
Why do I sometimes link to the actual pdf or html version of an article, but other times to the journal's home page?
Some publishers allow direct linking to articles, others will only link to the table of contents for that issue or to the journal's home page. |
How do I access Citation Linker?
Citation Linker is available from the Hanford Technical Library's website. |
